Key clamp fittings from FastClamp®: slip-on malleable iron connectors for standard steel tube, assembled with an Allen key. No welding, no threading, no bolting.
The range covers over 60 fitting types. Tees, elbows, crosses, side outlet fittings, flanges, swivels, end caps and brackets, in five sizes to suit tube from 26.9mm to 60.3mm outside diameter. Every fitting is coded (C02 90° Elbow, C04 Long Tee, C22 Two Socket Cross and so on) so you can specify by part number and your distributor can pick it off the shelf.
Key clamp fittings are the fastest way to build a handrail, guardrail, barrier, rack, frame or lightweight structure from steel tube. Cut the tube to length, slide the fittings on, tighten the grub screws. Structures can be extended, altered or taken down and re-used, which is why the same fittings turn up on industrial handrails, warehouse guarding, cricket nets, greenhouses, shopfitting frames and stable partitions.
All fittings are hot dip galvanised as standard. Powder coating to any RAL colour is available on request. FastClamp manufactures in the West Midlands and stocks the full range for rapid dispatch through UK distributors and stockists.
Not sure which fitting you need? Contact our technical team with a sketch of the structure and we will send you a fitting list. Or download the FastClamp catalogue for the full range with dimensions and part codes.

What key clamp fittings are used for

Anything built from steel tube that has to go up quickly, come apart if it must, and stand outside without rusting. The big four are handrail, guardrail, barrier and frame, but the same fittings turn up in places the catalogue never planned for.

  • Handrails and guardrails on stairs, landings, mezzanines, loading bays and roof edges
  • Pedestrian barriers, queue rails and demarcation around plant and traffic routes
  • Garment rails, display frames and shop fitting, where the 33.7mm size is the shopfitting standard
  • Racking, storage frames, trolleys and workbenches in warehouses and workshops
  • Sports nets, greenhouse and polytunnel frames, stables, kennels and agricultural pens
  • Exhibition stands, event structures and temporary frames that are built, struck and rebuilt
  • Accessible handrails, using the DDA range for the graspable rail diameter

How the system goes together

Cut the tube to length. Slide the fitting on. Tighten the grub screw with a hex key. That is the whole method. There is no welding, so no hot work permit and no fabricator; no threading, so no thread cutting on site; no bolting through the tube, so no drilling. The structure can be adjusted as it goes up and taken apart later, and a damaged section is replaced by loosening two screws rather than cutting out a weld.

Fittings are malleable cast iron, hot dip galvanised as standard. Powder coating in any RAL colour is available on request for shop fitting, schools and anywhere the rail is part of the finish. Use steel tube to BS EN 10255 with a minimum 3.2mm wall thickness.

Choosing the right fitting

The range is over 60 fitting types, but most jobs use a handful. Think of them by what they do.

  • Tees join an upright to a rail: C04 Long Tee for the top of an upright, C03 Short Tee for a mid rail, and the CA03 Add On Short Tee where a rail has to be added to an existing upright without dismantling.
  • Elbows and bends turn a corner or change level: C02 90° Elbow, adjustable elbows for stairs and ramps.
  • Crosses carry a rail through an intermediate upright: C22 Two Socket Cross and the three and four socket versions.
  • Flanges and base plates fix the structure to floor, wall or steelwork: C12 Railing Base Flange, wall flanges and angle base flanges for sloping surfaces.
  • Swivels take rails at any angle, for stair rails and braces.
  • Brackets and hinges hang a rail off a wall or make a gate: C16 Handrail Bracket, C32 Gate Hinge.
  • Joints and caps finish the job: C00 Sleeve Joint to join two tubes in line, plastic end caps to close the tube.

Each product page names the fittings it is normally used with, so you can build the parts list from the first fitting you pick.

Specifying and ordering

Every fitting has a code and a size. Quote both (C02 in the size for your tube, for example) and any UK stockist can pick it off the shelf. Send a sketch with the tube run, the heights and the fixing surface to our technical team and we will return a drawing and a parts list; rapid turnaround from drawings is what we are known for. FastClamp® fittings are supplied through UK trade merchants, industrial distributors and steel and tube stockholders; we do not sell direct. The full range with dimensions is in the FastClamp catalogue.

Frequently asked questions

What tube do key clamp fittings fit?

Standard steel tube to BS EN 10255 with a minimum wall thickness of 3.2mm. Each fitting size matches one tube outside diameter, so order the fitting size to suit the tube you are using.

Do I need to weld anything?

No. Fittings slide onto the tube and are locked with a grub screw tightened by a hex key. There is no welding, threading, bolting or drilling.

Can I get the fittings in a colour?

Yes. Hot dip galvanised is the standard finish; powder coating in any RAL colour is available on request.

Where do I buy FastClamp fittings?

Through UK trade merchants, industrial distributors and tube stockholders. FastClamp does not sell direct. Contact our team and we will point you to a stockist.

Can you help me work out which fittings I need?

Yes. Send a sketch or photograph with the tube run, heights and fixing surface and our technical team will return a drawing and a parts list.
