DDA handrail fittings from FastClamp®: slip-on connectors for building accessible handrails in public and commercial buildings, on new build and retrofit projects.
The DDA range pairs a 42.4mm handrail with 48.3mm uprights, which gives a rigid rail at a graspable diameter. Nine coded fittings cover the whole job: upright connector, handrail connector, wall bracket, intermediate bracket, end return, 90° bend, adjustable bend, expanding connector and plastic end cap. The expanding connector joins handrail lengths internally so there is no step on the rail, and the add-on components let you bring an existing non-compliant railing up to standard without replacing it.
Fittings are galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 or powder coated to any RAL colour, so the handrail can contrast visually with its surroundings. Assembly is by Allen key only, no welding or threading, which keeps installation quick on live sites such as schools, hospitals and retail premises.
Handrail height, continuity, end extensions and contrast are properties of the installed handrail, so the fittings are one part of a compliant design. Contact our technical team with your drawing and we will confirm the fitting list.

Where DDA handrail fittings are used

Ramps, steps and stairs in schools, hospitals, care homes, public buildings, shops and offices, on new build and on retrofit where an existing rail does not meet accessibility requirements. The DDA range gives a continuous, graspable handrail with returned ends, connected to standard uprights or wall brackets, without welding.

How it goes together

The handrail runs in the smaller tube size so it can be gripped; uprights use the standard size for rigidity. Handrail connectors join the two. The expanding connector joins rail lengths from the inside so there is no step on the rail, the adjustable bend follows a ramp or stair, and the end return closes the rail without a snag point. Add-on components bring an existing rail up to standard without taking it down.

Specifying

Handrail height, rail diameter, continuity, end returns and clearance from the wall are set by Building Regulations Part M and the guidance that supports the Equality Act 2010. Send the ramp or stair drawing to our technical team and we will return a layout and parts list. Fittings are galvanised as standard and can be powder coated in a contrasting colour where the rail has to stand out from the wall.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add DDA fittings to an existing handrail?

Yes. The add-on components are designed to bring an existing rail up to accessible standards without replacing the uprights.

Can the handrail be a contrasting colour?

Yes. Powder coating in any RAL colour is available, which is the usual way to give the rail visual contrast against the wall.

Where do I buy the DDA range?

Through UK distributors and stockists, the same as the rest of the FastClamp range. Contact our team and we will point you to a stockist.
